Organizational elasticity
The concept that separates organizations that absorb AI from those that suffer it.
Organizational elasticity is the capacity of a person, a team or an organization to absorb the productivity gains generated by AI and redeploy the freed-up capacity toward value — rather than suffer it as disorganization or uncontrolled headcount reduction.
Three degrees of elasticity
Elastic
Freed-up time is reallocated (higher quality, new projects, another role). The gain becomes an opportunity.
Semi-elastic
Partial absorption. Some of the gain creates value, some is lost for lack of redeployment.
Inelastic
No absorption possible at constant organization. The gain mechanically turns into overstaffing and social risk.
